MAXAM®Bearings

MAXAM®Bearings

Ready to upgrade your bearings to extend operating life and increase uptime?

MAXAM® Bearings are engineered to excel in harsh operating environments where conventional bearings fail prematurely. MAXAM Bearings are designed with an extremely high-hardness outer layer. This ceramic-like outer layer is tested and proven to pulverize aggressive debris, stand up to impact and heavy loads, will not corrode and withstand extreme temperatures. All in all, MAXAM’s have been proven to outlast conventional bearings by 4 – 10 times the service life in these challenging conditions saving tremendous cost related to downtime and maintenance to provide a quick ROI and long-term value.

Extreme Shock and Radial Loads

The unique characteristics of MAXAM Bearing design and material enable it to absorb and survive the punishment typical of heavy industrial applications avoiding fracture & spalling. Some applications include:

  • Caster Rolls
  • Run Out Table Rolls
  • Rolling or Bar Mill Transfer Rolls
  • Chock Wheels
  • Roll Stands
  • Coil & Heavy-Duty Conveyors
  • Rail-Mounted Transfer Carts & Cars
  • Furnace Rolls

Contaminants and Aggressive Debris

Dirt, dust, particulates, metal scale and swarf, sugars and sludge to name a few are no match for MAXAM. The extremely hard outer layer of MAXAM-processed metal parts grind and pulverize the debris into fines, which in the end actually help to lubricate the MAXAM.

Intense Heat

The metallurgy and unique processing of standard MAXAM Bearings and components allow them to operate continuously at temperatures up to 450°F (230°C) and 650°F (340°C) intermittently. For hotter environments our unique high-temperature alloy steel allows high-temp MAXAM’s to operate at 1,000°F (540°C) continuous and 1,200°F (650°C) intermittently. MAXAM Bearings can operate in hot applications from steelmaking to industrial and commercial ovens.

Moisture & Chemical Attack

MAXAM Bearings outer layer will not corrode, nor rust in the presence of water and moisture, and is resistant to attack from most chemicals. MAXAM’s are excellent in applications with exposure to and/or immersion in water, mild acids, cleaning and caustic solutions, or other fluids such as zinc pots, pickling lines, sewage, contaminated water, as well as other fluids.

Limited Frequency of Lubrication

In applications when lubrication poses challenges or problems, MAXAM Bearings typically outlast conventional bearings. Of course all bearings last longer and run with less friction when lubricated the hard outer layer of MAXAM Bearings and components can actually run dry against one another. In fact since MAXAM’s will not corrode or rust, water is an excellent lubricant.

Intermittent or Slow-Speed Operation

MAXAM Plain Bearings will in general accommodate sustained speeds up to 450 RPM, depending on size. For higher speeds, McNeil designs MAXAM Roller Bearings.

MAXAM® Bearings are engineered to excel in harsh operating environments where conventional bearings tend to fail. MAXAM Bearings have been proven to perform despite harsh conditions including:

Intense heat

Because of temperature ratings of up to 650 degrees F for standard MAXAM material and 1000 degrees F for high-temperature MAXAM material, MAXAM Bearings can operate in hot applications from steelmaking to industrial and commercial ovens.

Moisture

Exposure to and/or immersion in water, mild acids, cleaning solutions, or other fluids such as zinc pots, pickling lines, and other items.

Limited frequency or quality of lubrication

In applications when lubrication poses challenges or problems, MAXAM Bearings typically outlast conventional bearings.

Contaminants

Dirt, dust, particulates.

Intermittent or slow-speed operation

MAXAM Bearings sustain speeds up to 450 RPM, depending on size.
