Fast-growing McNeil Industries Completes Latest Expansion, Boosts Production Capacity

Painesville, Ohio, USA -- March 10, 2006 -- McNeil Industries, a manufacturer and distributor of bearings, machine guides, and specialty components, has announced completion of a year-long expansion that included relocation to a new 32,000 sq. ft. facility, acquisition of Precision Guide Systems, and investment of over $1.5 million in machinery, training, and tuition assistance for its 45 employees. With sales growth exceeding 20% annually for the past five years, the company ranks among the area’s fastest growing manufacturers.

According to Randall J. McNeil, President and CEO, the company’s continued investments are driven by rising demand, stoked by products acquired in three acquisitions since 1998. The latest of these, Precision Guide Systems, formerly of Willoughby, brought McNeil Industries a new line of high-precision guide pins, bushings, and accessories. These products are used by stamping die builders, stamping press makers, and producers of precision metal products including food and beverage cans, electrical and electronics components and connectors, and other products.

One-third of McNeil Industries’ new Painesville facility, including its newest high-precision lathes and machining centers, is configured for lean manufacturing, distribution, and customer service in support of the guide-system business. Typical guide systems consist of a long steel guide “pin,” a cylindrical “cage” containing precision ball bearings, and a flanged steel bushing. Mounted at the corners of upper and lower die “shoes,” these components ensure alignment to within one ten-thousandth (.0001) of an inch as huge stamping presses run the dies at up to 1,500 production cycles per minute in the production of precision metal products.

“Due to the production volume required from every stamping press and die set, even scheduled downtime can be very expensive for a stamping operation,” says McNeil. “Our expanded capacity and lean production training are already paying dividends, ensuring that customers get the precision components needed to keep their operations running. Our goal is: ‘what you need, when you need it, every time, guaranteed.”
